What Could Make Your Life Different?

How would you like your life to be different some day? Interesting questions to think about. What or who would make your life different…if you were famous, had more money or how about more stuff? Would it be different if you had more friends or a relationship with someone special. How about power and influence?

Social media is constantly telling us about the latest trends in fashion, cars, entertainment and who was seen with whom at a film premiere, concert, sporting event or on the beach in Cancun. It’s easy to absorb all this ‘news’ and wonder how different our life would be if we just had what we see online or on TV. We dream and say to ourselves, “if only I had ______ then I’d be happy and satisfied.”

Guess what – you’re not alone – even celebs who appear to have “everything” are still searching for a balance in life, be happy and do what they love most. Out of public view, they search for answers to questions about existence, purpose, emptiness, peace, hope and contentment. They want to know if their life really matters. Unfortunately, some have even taken their own life because they had everything but still came up empty. Something was missing.

God's Love

God loves you just the way you are. You can’t do anything to get him to love you more or less. God’s love is unconditional and lasts forever.

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16 (NLT)

God's Plan

God has an amazing plan for your life. He wants us to know that we matter; why we are here; to have peace and hope; to be content and have joy; He wants you to make a difference in the world. God wants you to fully live! He wants to give you so much including hope, peace, joy, purpose and contentment. God also wants you to spend eternity in heaven with Him when you die.

“My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” – John 10:10 (NLT)

Our Problem

Everyone is born with a spiritual, terminal disease called ‘sin.’ It causes us to live independent of God (in rebellion towards Him) and separates us from Him and the path for life He has for us.

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” – Romans 3:23 (NLT)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 (NLT)

Jesus died in your place on the cross to take the punishment for your sin. He paid your debt so you could be forgiven – so your life would be different.

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” – Romans 5:8 (NLT)
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

Power to Live Differently

Jesus didn’t stay dead on the cross or in the grave. He came back to life after 3 days to conquer death. The same supernatural power that raised Jesus from the grave, is available to make a difference in your life.

“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said.4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NLT)

It's All About the Relationship

Imagine, the God of creation, wants to have a personal relationship with you. One that lasts forever. He will never leave you or turn His back on you. But the choice is yours. God is a gentleman and will never force himself on you.

“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” – John 1:12 (NLT)
“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’” – John 14:6 (NLT)

Would You Like Your Life to Be Different?

If you’d like to experience God’s love, forgiveness, peace, purpose and hope – use this simple prayer to express your thoughts to God:

Lord Jesus, I know that my sin has separated me from you. I want you to be my Savior and forgive me for my sin. Thank you for dying on the cross for me to take the punishment for my sin. I believe that you didn’t stay dead in the grave but you came back to life after 3 days and want to live inside of me. I surrender my life to you. Make me a brand new person and be in charge of my life. I want to live my life for and like you. Thank you for your love for me.

You’re not alone. It’s been going on for generations. Take a man named Solomon for example.

He was a king of Israel, who was greater in wisdom, wealth and power than anyone else who lived before him. Solomon searched for satisfaction in every possible dimension of life: pleasure; parties & good food; achievement, wealth & possessions. Yet, after trying everything he possibly could, Solomon concluded that “everything was meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 12:8).

There was nothing really wrong with what Solomon did. He had it all but it didn’t satisfy. A crucial element was missing.

The search for answers about things like the meaning of life, our existence peace, hope and contentment are not found in something. Rather, it’s someone.

It’s not what but who. Jesus said, “follow me” (Matthew 4:19). The answers you are searching for are found in Him. Relationship first with the living God, then you will know that you matter, why you are alive, peace and how to find contentment. Then instead of being happy – which is dependent on others and things – you’ll have joy.

Choosing to follow Jesus is the most important decision you will ever make. It will make your life radically different now and for the future. Here are some things to consider as you decide to live your life for and like Jesus.
